Why is it a Slumdog Contest?
Because at Navatar we are doing some of the most exciting things happening today in the Cloud Computing world with Force.com, even though most of us came from humble beginnings. For instance, read the success story of Rexlo Joe who came from a remote village of Tamil Nadu, India a few years ago to become a top Cloud Computing Architect on Wall Street (read Rexlo Joe’s success story). With the Navatar Slumdog Developer Contest, we want to recognize and highlight your talent and your work.
Who can Participate?
Anyone. Simply register for the Navatar Slumdog developer contest. Get access to a free Force.com Developer Edition (DE) environment (Click here to create a new Force.com Developer Login) with the Sites Preview technology enabled to participate in the Navatar Slumdog Developer Contest. To enable your existing Developer Edition account, or to sign up for a new DE account enabled with the Sites Preview Technology, please visit http://developer.force.com/iwantsites.
The Rules
You can use any or all parts of the Force.com platform, as long as you use customer portal or Force.com Sites, and you can submit as many applications as you like.
The Contest
You can create any application you like. However, if you want to participate in a structured challenge, consider building an application for a Financial Services organization with a public web site that allows users to get market information, conduct transactions, manage accounts as well as collaborate with community and facilitate discussions.
Hints
• Think about an application that solves a use-case commonly required by public users.
• Check out web sites of Financial Services organizations such as banks, brokerage firms etc
• Check out IdeaExchange and AppExchange for some ideas of applications.
